If you're yearning for the flavours of an Italian Sandwich but are seeking a lighter option, this recipe has your name on it. It's a one bowl recipe, super easy to mix and match with ingredients you already have in the fridge and is incredibly satisfying.
Grab a large bowl, sharp chopping knife & cutting board and you are ready to get started.
What You'll Need: Remember, this can be customized to whatever you like/have on hand, however these are my favourite Italian sandwich ingredients listed below:
Iceberg lettuce
Black Olives
Red Onion
Cucumber
Tomato
Mozzarella
Salami or Soppressata
Mortadella
Parmigiano Regiano
Spicy hot pickled peppers
Dressing:
1 clove of garlic
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1 tsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp Italian seasoning blend
salt + pepper
You can use as little or as much as you'd like of each ingredient - just take your time chopping everything into small pieces, you want to get a taste of every ingredient in each bite! Top this with freshly grated Parmesan and black pepper. To elevate this salad even more, some toasted garlic bread croutons would be chef's kiss 😘.
